Both are being considered with the coaching position at the Premiership title holders following the former manager's departure on the start of the week.

McKenna's Position on The Scottish Club

The Ipswich boss referred to the Glasgow giants as "an enormous football club" but stressed he is "in the middle" of a "extensive rebuilding" with Ipswich Town.

The 39-year-old assumed control of Ipswich in recent years and guided the team to the Premier League with consecutive elevations, but they won just four games last campaign as they were demoted back to the second division and they currently sit twelfth place in England's second tier.

"I have not had such discussions," the London-born former Northern Ireland young player said when questioned about being on the candidate list.

"It's not something I have considered seriously, or where any portion of my focus is currently.

"I possess a special position here at a remarkable club. And we're at a crucial phase of the campaign. Everything external hasn't reached my radar."

Background and Agreement Aspects

Reports indicate that the manager would be open to speaking to Celtic given his childhood support.

"Growing up, we all have our preferences," he said when asked about these. "I don't think everyone has to publicly and declare what they used to be, but of course it's a massive sports organization."

The coach signed a fresh four-year contract in 2024 and was asked about his alleged £5m release clause.

"In every manager's contract, there are provisions," he responded. "I'm unaware what my specific terms are and, were I informed, I wouldn't disclose you regardless!

"I tackle this role like I'll be Town's coach forever. I understand that's not invariably going to be the situation, but I'll always do my best as long as I am here."

Bellamy's Situation

The former striker played for the Hoops on loan from Newcastle United in 2005, but the ex- Wales forward is minded to finish the current World Cup qualification, a stance that would practically eliminate the mid-forties from immediately taking the Glasgow position.

The Welsh squad are currently in third place in their qualifying group behind leaders the Red Devils and second-placed North Macedonia.

Victories over the minnows and North Macedonia in next month would book their position in the qualification play-offs, but they are virtually assured of reaching that stage, due to a successful Nations League performance, should they fail to end up Group J runners-up.

Given his present position, Bellamy, whose contract concludes after the European Championship, would not be available until following the play-offs at the minimum.
