The Blue Jays Secure Fall Classic Matchup Against the Dodgers
Springer previously helped the Houston Astros claiming the championship in 2017.
Canada's MLB team earned a spot in their first Fall Classic after the 1993 season by beating the Mariners in the decisive Game 7 of the ALCS.
Down three runs to one, outfielder George Springer smashed a three-run home run in the seventh frame, propelling the sole Canadian team in MLB to a 4-3 series win in the best-of-seven series. They will now face the defending champions, who are the defending champions, in the forthcoming World Series.
"It's incredible for our team, the city, Canada," Springer stated, a key player of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 title. "What an amazing experience."
Springer has now connected for 23 post-season home runs, making him third all-time behind Ramirez (29) and Altuve (27).
"It's hard to imagine another player in the world that I'd prefer in that moment other than him with his post-season brilliance," noted manager John Schneider.
Seattle, despite leading the series two games to none and three games to two, are still the one club never to appear in a Fall Classic.
Manager Dan Wilson stated "without a doubt that it hurts" in the wake of his team's loss at Rogers Centre, but applauded their efforts in the campaign.
"They're an exceptional squad. It's a shame that we ended up on the unsuccessful side of this game," he added.
The Blue Jays secured the championship on each of their earlier trips in the early 90s, and will host the Los Angeles in the opener on Friday.
