Holocaust Victims Urge Nigel Farage to Make Amends Over Alleged Anti-Jewish Comments.

A collective of Holocaust survivors has called for that Nigel Farage admit the facts and apologise for reported antisemitic taunts he is said to have made toward Jewish pupils during his time at school.

The Reform UK leader has said he never targeted anyone with deliberate cruelty, suggesting it may have been mere "childish teasing".

"As Shoah survivors, we grasp the profound danger of bigoted language – for we have seen where such words inevitably end," declared the survivors in a missive.

"It is crucial to understand: lauding Hitler, mimicking gas chambers, or directing racial slurs is not banter. Not in a playground. Not ever."

An Unequivocal Demand

The letter puts forth blunt questions to the public figure: "Is it true you said ‘Hitler was right’ and ‘gas them,’ while mimicking gas chambers? Did you target your classmates to anti-Jewish taunts?"

The Signatories

The collective of 11 survivors includes individuals with devastating personal experiences from the Nazi genocide.

• Hedi Argent, who saw the murder of 27 members of her family.
• Simon Winston, who was confined to a ghetto before breaking out in 1942 and living through the rest of the war concealed.
• Anita Lasker-Wallfisch, who was deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau and later transferred to Bergen-Belsen, where she was liberated.

The remaining survivors include Janine Webber, Edith Jayne, Helen Aronson, Ruth Barnett, John Fieldsend, Susan Pollack, Hanneke Dye and Agnes Kaposi.

Increasing Allegations

This public letter follows the characterisation of similar allegations by more than two dozen alumni and teachers as "fabricated nonsense" by a deputy leader.

Since the initial report, further individuals from that era have shared their stories. Nearly thirty former pupils and teachers now claim they saw prejudiced actions by him.

One prominent account comes from Peter Ettedgui, a Jewish award-winning director, who has stated that a young Farage would sidle up to him and utter the phrases "Hitler was correct" and "send them to the gas chambers", at times including a hiss to mimic the sound of poison gas.

Additional Claims

Other former pupils from diverse backgrounds have also come forward with stories of targeted insults.

• Cyrus Oshidar said he was branded a "racial slur" and has rejected the claim that such actions were devoid of malice.
• Another student of Asian heritage portrayed him as an "avowed bigot" who would use the phrase "Enoch Powell was correct" as a form of "racial bullying".

The Ultimate Question

The missive from survivors poses a final challenge to Farage: "Should you continue to deny saying those words, are you claiming that dozens of individuals are lying? If the words were spoken, now is the opportunity to admit your error and say sorry."

"Those who aspire to lead our country should under no circumstances divide people by ethnicity or faith. Antisemitic hatred must never become acceptable. This moment is about ethical duty. The choice is yours, Mr Farage."
