Bills' Disappointing Performance Gives Patriots Route to AFC East Lead - Best of Week 10 NFL Action

The tenth week once more provided excitement, with a major surprise for the Buffalo Bills demonstrating the 'any given Sunday' saying that attracts so many people into the NFL
That result could have created things up for the Patriots to move back into a top spot they formerly held, with a schedule that gives them an edge over their eight and two rivals
Meanwhile in the National Football Conference the Seattle Seahawks and Rams had perfect results to set up a monster clash in week 11, while our top performer is chasing records as well as the MVP award
The Breakdown - Simply an Off Day for Buffalo?
Could it simply have been an emotional letdown from beating the Chiefs the previous week or something more? That's the question for the Bills to address
The Bills had secured seven victories in a consecutive games against Miami but were outperformed from the beginning as the Miami team ran out 30-13 victors in an surprising result - and display
MVP Josh Allen only achieved the squad's initial first down in the third quarter and initial scoring in the fourth - admittedly Miami had 10 days to get ready but it was nonetheless a massive egg laid by one of the NFL's best offenses
Tua Tagovailoa passed for two scores but rusher Achane was the game-changing factor, with 225 combined yards and two touchdowns
Bottling up the NFL's top rushing attack was crucial too, with James Cook and teammates recording just eighty-six yards, their fewest of the year and slightly more than half their 161.5-yard season average
Then there were the three crucial ball losses, and the pair from Josh Allen in particular. An pass caught by defense in the end zone resulting in a nine-minute drive produced nothing, and his fourth-quarter fumble that Miami converted to seven points just later
It was typical 'old Buffalo' as they shot themselves in the foot, falling into a deficit on defense and Josh Allen attempting to do too much to rescue his squad out of it - rather than the composed, disciplined, well-balanced Bills we've witnessed this year
Miami have served up a bit of everything this season so the jury's out on whether this is the beginning of a trend, but for Buffalo they'll need an instant response in a difficult matchup against Tampa Bay in week 11 as the New England are quietly moving into a nice lead at the summit of the AFC East
In Focus - Patriots See Path to Unexpected First Place
Speaking of the Patriots, they're one of three different eight and two squads in the league, all AFC teams, but could they be the top team?
One could find flaws in the Patriots, Denver and Indianapolis really for feasting on the weaker opponents, with just five of their combined 24 wins coming against teams with a positive record - and one of those was the Indianapolis beating the Denver
The Broncos defeated the reigning champion Eagles in Philadelphia and are masters of the final quarter while Indianapolis can rely on Jonathan Taylor, but the Patriots including Sunday's win in Tampa to their primtime success in Orchard Park seems like a declaration
Their two defeats came in recently appointed coach Vrabel's first three games, with seven straight victories, similar to the Broncos, from that point - but defeating Baker Mayfield after the Buccaneers had a week off to get ready was huge
Maye's MVP claims won't go away, and he certainly deserves credit for bravery after absorbing some savage hits in Tampa but hanging in there to steer his team to success
The defensive unit is reliable and rookie running back Henderson burst onto the scene on Sunday with 147 rushing yards and two exciting touchdowns of fifty-five and sixty-nine yards - establishing himself as just the fifth different ball carrier to exceed 22mph this year on his initial touchdown
While you can debate who 'the best' is technically, the Pats should be favourites to end with the top record due to their schedule - which includes just a single matchup against a winning team, although a huge one against Buffalo
Visiting the Ravens is also tough, but the Broncos have it more difficult in the AFC West division with the Chiefs to face two times, the Los Angeles Chargers (who might also compete for first place but face the identical challenge) and additionally the Packers on the fixture list
The Colts also face the Kansas City, and have the Seattle, 49ers and two games with the five and four Jaguars to face. There's a long way to travel but the opportunity is available for a shock number one position in the AFC
Coming Up - Rams & Seahawks Set for Week 11 Clash
Two teams with strong arguments to be superior to all of the three different 8-2 teams are National Football Conference West opponents the Seattle and Rams, who both put up 40 burgers to go to seven and two ahead of the upcoming major game between the pair in LA
They've both secured four victories in a row, have signal callers in Matthew Stafford and Darnold performing at an high standard (although Darnold had ball security problems on game day) with top receivers, and defenses allowing under 20 points a game
Each could realistically be undefeated as well - particularly the Rams as their two defeats occurred in extra time against the 49ers and then that agonising loss in Philly when they had a potentially winning kick with the last kick deflected and returned by the Philadelphia for a score
The Seahawks were also defeated to the 49ers, with a last-minute score in week one, before falling to the final play of the game against the Buccaneers - so they're truly among the top teams in the league
The next matchup on Sunday could be the best of the year so far
Top Performer - Taylor
Taylor could be on for a historic year after his remarkable performance in Berlin - rushing for 244 yards, scoring three scores and adding another 42 {receiving yards
